You should be all right if you let the tyre down completely and then push the edges of it towards the centre with your thumbs to pull it out of the slot. Use the height of the tyre as leverage and if its a large enough tyre use your palms to help pull the tyre off the rim. Just pop the first side off leave the other and pull the tube out.
